ST. MARY`S CHURCH----FARNDALE.

The picturesque church of St Mary`s, Church Houses, Farndale, England stands at the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors in a dale renowned for it`s annual carpet of wild daffodils. Unfortunately we was perhaps a week to early has the daffodils had not opened up. This simple church, with it`s wide low chancel arch and Victorian east window, was built from local stone in 1831 and restored by Temple Moore in 1907-1914.

SCARBOROUGH CASTLE.

Scarborough castle stands on a massive promontory of rock that rises above the north sea, overlooking Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England.  It started out as an iron age fort, was occupied by the Romans, became a Viking Settlement and reached it`s heyday under Henry II. Over the centuries it has seen civil wars, sieges and conflicts. It also came under bombardment during the first world war.

STEAM TRAIN 6619.

As we was driving into Goathland in the North Yorkshire Moors, England I saw in the distance this steam train, we safely pulled up and parked the car, then rushed back towards the train track just in time to get these two photographs. This train is an ex GWR/BR 5600 class 0-6-2T tank engine pulling coaches. This particular steam train no 6619 was built in 1928 at Swindon Locomotive Works. On the side of this locomotive you can just see the classic 1948 British Railways Motif.

Pickering Railway Station is the southern terminus of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and is Britain`s most visited Heritage railway and is also one of the world`s oldest railway lines. You can catch a steam train and travel 18 lovely miles through North Yorkshire Moors National Park. This lovely line runs between the stations of (see map below) Pickering, Grosmont, Levisham, Goathland (where Heartbeat was filmed) and Whitby.
