MOTORCYCLES #4.

HONDA PAN EUROPEAN MOTORCYCLE.

This type of machine is used by paramedics as a rapid response vehicle within built up areas of a city. Motorcycles like this can reach incidents very quickly in hard to access locations to give treatment before a full sized ambulance is on the scene, giving vital treatment in the first so called golden hour, This particular motorcycle has  featured in the popular TV show  emergency bikers.

The Rudge name goes all the way back to 1869, when pub landlord Daniel Rudge began making velocipedes in Wolverhampton. After his death the business relocated to Coventry in 1880. The first motorcycles were made from 1910 until 1940 when the factory was destroyed by the blitz.

St PETER and St PAUL CHURCH - CAISTOR - LINCOLNSHIRE.

This building is not the first church which has stood on this site. It is suggested that saint Paulinus established a church here in the early part of the seventh century. Certainly there has been a place of worship here since Saxon times and the lower part of the tower is probably Saxon, dating to around 1050 AD. This may have been the main porch of an aisle - less church. The tower as it stands today displays work of three architectural periods. Its base is early Norman ( 1066-1189 ) but with a doorway which may have been Saxon ( 7th century - 1066 ). Its second stage is early English ( 1189 - 1280 ) and the top stage with decorated pinnacles and battlements are perpendicular style ( 1377 - 1547 ). The beautiful south doorway with its typical dogtooth ornamentation, much of the nave, chancel arch and chancel all date from the 13th century, being of the early English style. The present organ was installed in 1885. All the windows, whilst only Victorian or later, are good examples. The oldest ones are the more brightly coloured glass and date from the 1860s. The windows tell the story of our faith in pictures.

RUDDINGTON TRAIN YARD.

The great central railway ( Nottingham ) ( formerly known as Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre ) is a heritage railway and transport museum on the south side of the village of Ruddington  in Nottinghamshire UK. Here are the photographs I took while wandering around this large site. I have not given any details relating to the locomotives as I just wanted to show what there is in this large train yard.
