Used to be a pub in the 13th century, now it`s part of the Nottingham Building Society offices.

16th century houses. Tradition states that Henrietta, queen of Charles I, resided here when she visited Newark early in the civil war period.

This was the Governor`s house when Newark was besieged 1643 - 1646. Prince Rupert stayed here after his quarrel with the king in October 1645.

Great photos. I like the Governor's House. I like the way the structure starts out at the ground floor one size, and as they add a floor they make it a bit bigger. Just neat like that. Ossington Hall looks like a good place to have a eatery. Just something about the way it looks says "Come eat here!" I would have thought a queen would have stayed in a fancier location, but I guess during a Civil War you settle for what there is. It's sill nice looking. Just thought a queen would demand something fancier. Good stuff, my friend!
